Chant Hardware Finishes

The brass base metal is polished to a high shine. Left un-coated, it will acquire a rich golden brown patina. The colour of aged finishes will also continue to evolve over time.

Brass Refined finishes: PBU, PBC, PBA, SB, SBA

A textured surface on brass, then aged to provide either a light, dark or extra dark, matt brass surface. The colour of aged finishes will also continue to evolve over time.

Brass Weathered finishes: WB, WBD, WBED

The bronze base metal is polished to a high shine. Left un-coated, it will acquire a rich rose-golden brown patina, often showing the random grain structure of the bronze. The colour of aged finishes will also continue to evolve over time. Face plates and strikes from the SS Mortise Lock series, and cylinder barrels are not available in the Natural Bronze finishes. These products are only made from Brass as the base metal and are coloured to match as best as possible.

Electroplating is the application of a metal coating to a metallic or other conducting surface by an electrochemical process.

Electroplated finishes: PCP, SCPV, SCPB

A layer of nickel on a polished/brushed surface. It will oxidize over time depending on atmospheric conditions and should be cleaned regularly to maintain the surface. This is not suitable for external use or coastal environments.

Nickel (Living Finish) Finished: PNP, SNP, BNP

A thick copper layer plated onto the brass base metal, left uncoated, which will acquire a rich red-brown patina over time.

Copper finishes: COP, WC, WCD

Refined
The Stainless Steel 316 base metal is polished to a high shine. A select range of Line SS pull handles are available in stainless steel and a select range of other products by consultation.

Stainless Steel finishes: SSB, PSS

We offer a large range of Powder Coated colours which are generally applied to brass as the base metal, and to a limited degree aluminium and 316 stainless steel tubular pull handles.
Whether you are looking to colour match to your aluminium or steel joinery or wanting to ensure your handles stand out, there is a colour to suit.
Black is a common request and bronze / brown options are becoming popular for external side joinery when paired with our Weathered Brass Dark (WBD) finish on the internal handles. This ensures your external 'living finished' products remain brown rather than potentially turning verdigree, especially an issue in highly exposed coastal areas.
