• Q : How does this work?
  A : When mortised into the header of a double door, a spring-loaded ball engages a round bolt on the other end that interact with a catch on the top of the active door and a strike on the top of the inactive door, respectively. When the ball is depressed the corresponding bolt projects and as the ball is released the bolt retracts, similar to a seesaw system.
• Q : Where is this mostly used?
  A : Transom bolts are especially ideal for small double door situations such as bedrooms, master baths, closets, French doors, patio doors and offices. They are most commonly used on interior doors but can be utilized for exterior doors where UL fire ratings are not required.

• Q : What is DURO?
  A : The Duronotic is a dark brown finish that is an alternative to the US10B. It is a matte finish with lacquer. It looks like powdercoat, but it's not a powdercoat; it's a dark patina with matte lacquer (no lines). It is a bit more durable than the US10B - and does not show the lines like US10B - but it is not recommended for exterior application.
• Q : What is ESN?
  A : The Electroless Nickel is meant to be an alternative to US32D for products that aren't offered in stainless. It is very durable and can be used in exterior applications, similar to satin chrome in wear (ages much better than US15), though, be careful in coastal applications. Interestingly, this material is what silverware is often made of, to avoid rust, but cheaper than silver and stainless steel.
